….the dogs reactions to Joey have been. interesting. Harley is very Concerned about him, but he’s getting a lot calmer about having him around. Saxon is Obsessed - he spent the first three days following him around or staring at him through the gate (we kept them separate for the first day, they’re on supervised visits in the main part of the house now) - but he’s cooled off on that a little.
Harley will go sit outside if he has too much cat exposure, cause Joey can’t use the dog door and so he is safe. They like to sniff him when he’s not looking at them, and this morning they both licked him on the head. Not the blood bath I was worried about!

Pretty much anyone I know knows how much I love australian shepherds and that I’ve been trying to work out how I could get one for a long time. Well, this is Evie, and she’s not an australian shepherd. I came to the realization that I’m not in a place in life to give an aussie the level of exercise and mental stimulation it needs at right about the same time I met this girl. I volunteer playing with and training dogs at the humane society, and every week this girl would just crawl into my lap. In the interest of making sure I can give my dog what it needs, while also getting a dog soon for mental health reasons, I’ve decided to adopt her and put off the dream of raising an aussie. Shoutout to @pantsthepuppy for talking to me about aussies and finding a responsible breeder. I’m excited to see the start of your breeding program, when I’m ready to take on an aussie I know you’ll have a program I can trust!
